Le Mans - Test Day - June 1

5:55 pm - The rain is back, so we are done for the day. We had only a short amount of track time today because of the rain, but we were able to make some progress on setup. We'll be back on line the week of June 9th with more details on our prep for the race. Talk to you all soon --- Jen

4:43 pm - Joerg is back in the garage. The sun has come out and the track is rapidly drying out. We'll wait a bit longer and if it continues to dry, Seth will get in the car for another stint. We are currently P2 in the session a time of 4:06.894. The No. 82 Risi Competizione Ferrari (of Melo/Salo) is currently P 1.

4:30 - A few more laps for Joerg and now he's back in.

3:44 pm - Joerg went back out after the crew made a change to the car but he radios in that it is too wet to drive and he is coming back in.

3:22 - It is still very wet - Joerg is going out in full rain tires to check out how the car is on full rains. After one lap, he is pitting because he says there is too much standing water.

3:12 - The course is green, but we will stay in the garage because it is now raining heavily on parts of the track.

2:50 - Seth is back in due to a red flag.

2:45 pm - We are back on track after the lunch break. Luckily the rain has held off and the track is now fairly dry. Seth Neiman is in the car. So far, the test has been going well although we have had much less track time that we had hoped due to the slick conditions in the morning. The session runs till 6 pm CET tonight.

11:08 am - Johannes went out again briefly, but the track is still too wet. We are back in the garage.

10:43 am - We are still in the garage - waiting for the track to dry enough to head out again. The BMS Scuderia Ferrari now has the fastest time of the session with a 4:11.429

10:15 am CET - We are 2 hours into the test day. Johannes has completed his first stint, and Seth has been out briefly. Joert has not yet gone out. Rain is imminent but has not yet started. We've brought the car into the garage, waiting to see if it dries out a bit.

Johannes' take on his stint this morning: "The Porsche ran perfectly, we have a good beginning setup. It's always good when you are the quickest car in class on track [Johannes has the fastest time so far this morning of GT2: 4:12.204.]
The track was slippery and treacherous in places. Depending on how the weather plays out, we may end up with a very short session today. We really can't tell yet how far we have to go on setup- the track is so off right now that you can't go fast enough in certain places to get a good enough read."

June 1, 2008 8:20 am CET - Good morning from a very soggy Le Mans. We are 40 minutes away from the start of the test session. It's reasonably dry right now after torrential rain yesterday flooded the track, paddocks, and roads surrounding the track. The weather report predicts rain today but we hope to be able to get a few hours on track before it gets too wet. We are not broadcasting our radio today, but we will be during the race on June 14/15.

The drivers are suiting up now - Johannes van Overbeek will go out first, then Joerg Bergmeister, then seth Neiman.

I'll report more on today's test once we get underway.
